I’m a lifelong SETX native, and a reformed “Beaumont is so boring” utterer.
As a homeschooling mom with perpetual wanderlust, I’ve always tried to incorporate a lot of travel and adventure into our schooling (because learning should be fun, and what’s better than seeing and experiencing the things you’re learning about? Nothing!). Enter a global pandemic that grounded everyone – and I eventually decided to try to find some tourist-in-our-own-town activities to keep us occupied and break up the mind-numbing monotony.
I’ll be honest, as a card carrying “Beaumont is boring” member, I wasn’t very hopeful. But what we discovered is that we live in such a diverse, unique area that is bursting with history, activities, amazing food, and a sense of community unlike anywhere else.
In college, I majored in Creative Writing for 4 semesters before deciding I wasn’t interested in teaching (let’s all laugh and laugh), so I changed my major to Communications in order to work in Marketing and PR. I graduated, but I opened and ran a successful photography studio for 7 years before deciding I just wanted to hang out with my kids instead. Throw in a healthy dash of lifelong wanderlust, and it feels like all roads have led right here. So now, along with my husband, Jake, and our 2 boys, we’re on a mission to show people all of the fun in SETX!
